CALCILIZIN is a biologically active calcium complex, which is easily assimilated by the body and is designed to prevent and supplement calcium deficiency.
PROPERTIES
Calcium is one of the most abundant minerals in the body. Itaccounts for about 2% of the body weight. 99% of calciumis found in bones and 1% in the composition of all organs, tissues and biological fluids of the body.
The bone tissue consists ofproteins (the matrix, which makes up about 30%) and minerals (60%), which interpenetrate. The protein matrix of the bone tissue consists of collagen, which is synthesized from fibroblasts. Procollagen (immature collagen) contains amino acids (including proline), which are converted to hydroxyproline to form collagen (mature collagen). Amino acids retain calcium and phosphorus and give bones strength and endurance.
Calcium contributes to:
Calcium pidolate is an organic protein-calcium complex, which consists of calcium (13%) and of pidolic acid (87%). In calcium pidolate, the calcium ion is bound to two molecules of pyrrolidone carboxylic acid that act as protein supports.Pidolic acid is a precursor of arginine and proline in intestinal cells. These amino acids are fundamental in the calcium binding process. The composition of the protein ensures a better absorption of calcium in the intestine, an easier distribution in the body, excellent assimilation and binding to tissues.
None of the calcium salts currently employed therapeutically (chloride, carbonate, lactate, citrate, gluconate, ascorbate, glycerophosphate, gluconolactate, etc.) contain a protein support. Calcium pidolate is the only source in which the calcium is transported by a protein substrate that is directly assimilable and specific to the body’s bony matrix. Calcium pidolate can provide both a protein framework (the matrix) and a mineral source (the substrate).
Calcium ions have a biological activity. Inorganic sources of calcium are absorbed up to 10%-30% depending on the pH of the stomach and intestines. However, in calcium L-pidolate, the calcium is released and ionized faster compared to other non-protein bound calcium compounds (carbonates, lactates, gluconates, etc.). It is easily soluble, quickly absorbed (up to 95%, because it does not depend on the pH), has a high bioavailability,is distributed throughout different tissues and it stimulates numerous hormonal and metabolic processes.
Lysine is an essential amino acid, which is not synthesized by the human body and therefore requires to be supplied. Aninsufficient intake of this amino acid activates the excretion of calcium through urination.
